A top priority for Investopedia is to provide our readers with unbiased, clear, and actionable information. That is why we spent hundreds of hours researching online brokers to find the best platform for options trading. We collected data using a digital survey with 110 questions to 26 online brokerages. Our team of researchers compiled and researched the data. To fill in any gaps, it reached out to the individual brokerages. In some instances, our researchers did much deeper online research to get the information they needed to complete the data collection. This process was conducted between Feb. 19 and March 19, 2024.
Our in-house proprietary model was then used to score and rate each company. In addition, we also took advantage of the live demo accounts provided by some of the brokerage companies in our evaluations.
